Acquiring a Turkish Residence Permit in Turkey is required for visitors who wish to extend their visit in the nation after the 90 days termination date recommended in their visa. Expats who need a visa exception or plan to remain for over ninety days are needed to get a Residence Permit.

Note that as of 2013, foreigners who buy a property in Turkey will be granted a yearly Residence Permit which is renewed each year as long as the individual keeps the ownership for property.
