Experiencing the Turkish Delights: A Journey of Excitement and Wonder in Türkiye!

Welcome to our fourth installment of “Doing It Up in Turkey.” If you’ve been following our journey, you’ll know that we’ve been renovating an apartment in Fethiye, Turkey. In this episode, we’ll take you through the progress we’ve made on transforming this space into a homely retreat.

From opening up the roof to creating a large terrace, fitting sliding doors, and renovating the bathroom, we’ve been hard at work making this apartment our own. But let’s catch up on what we’ve done since our last update.

We’ve traveled to Cappadocia and Konya, but it’s been back to work as we prepare the apartment for the finishing touches. I installed an underfloor heating system, purchased from the UK, to ensure a cozy environment, especially during the colder months.

We’ve faced some challenges, such as the positioning of the shower valve operating button. But with some creative thinking and problem-solving, we’ve managed to find solutions and make progress.

Now, with the addition of vinyl flooring and wall-to-wall carpeting, the apartment is taking on a warm and inviting atmosphere. We even found a supplier for the carpet in the back streets of Fethiye, demonstrating the personal touch we’ve put into every detail of this renovation.

Next were the internal doors, which were not quite what we ordered, but with a bit of a mix-up they turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We also had a new edging strip for the doors, showcasing the innovative design elements that we encountered during this project.

Additionally, we’ve added wallpaper to a feature wall and installed a vanity unit, further enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the space. We’ve also explored the option of custom-made wood furniture from local carpenters, showcasing the unique and personal touches that we’ve incorporated into this project.

In our search for the finishing touches, we discovered a plethora of options for modern switches and LED lights at the various electric shops in Turkey. With a variety of affordable options, we were able to enhance the ambiance of the apartment with stylish lighting choices.

As we continue to work on this renovation, we’ve encountered challenges and surprises, but with each obstacle, we’ve found solutions and even stumbled upon pleasant revelations.
