The Renovation Journey: Doing it up in Turkey

Renovating a property in Fethiye, Turkey is a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. In this article, we’ll take you through the journey of transforming a property from start to finish. Previously, we accomplished opening up the terrace, upgrading the bathroom, and achieving various tasks. Now, after our return from the UK, let’s see the progress we’ve made since part two of our renovation.

Finding Wood Suppliers and Renovating the Roof

After returning, the first task at hand was procuring more wood for lowering the roof. We visited a wood place in the Saniye industrial estate to acquire the necessary materials. The wood, Kavak, is ideal for building roofing and is cost-effective. We were pleasantly surprised to find insulation underneath the wood paneling, adding a bonus to our renovation plans.

Stud Walling and Installing Air Conditioning Units

Next, we shifted focus to constructing stud walling for the shower cubicle and painting it in a white rustic tone. The scorching heat prompted us to invest in an air conditioning unit from the Beko shop, opting for a silent, top-quality model for a comfortable living environment.

Insulation, Plastering, and Tiling

The insulation of outside walls and fitting of plasterboards was completed by the team, paving the way for the next stage of tiling. We faced the challenge of tiling the walls with large tiles, ultimately hiring a professional tiler due to the size and complexity of the task. Additionally, the niche areas with accompanying lights were personally handled to ensure precision and quality.

Professional Tiling and a Break in Konya

As the tiling work commenced, we had the opportunity to take a break from renovations and explore the beautiful city of Konya, experiencing its wonders and culture before returning to the property.

Our renovation journey in Turkey has been filled with challenges, triumphs, and memorable experiences. From sourcing construction materials to completing intricate tiling work, every step has contributed to the transformation of the property.
