since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, April 20, 2022, Vostok is a big NONO. You do not buy stuff from Russia anymore when you are on the good side in history.
Also "some true cool history behind them" yes they plunderd whole watch factorys in Germany (like they do now stealing tractors and farm equipment from Ukraine) and making crappy copys eversince.

I have an SMP 300 daily wear and I want the calculator Casio and the Pac-Man watch so bad! I wore them back in the day! They all accomplish the same basic task, they tell time! If you don't love the G-Shock, I don't know what to say! I love all watches! ALL OF THEM!

    Vostok ~
Many independent watchmakers will simply refuse to work on one, if you bring it in for servicing. The reason? They know the history of the brand. Would you expect an elderly Jewish watchmaker to work on a watch produced in Germany from right around 1939 and afterwards for a few years? No, no you wouldn't. Same type of mentality regarding Vostok.

    Swatch ~
If you're the type of person who loves constantly switching up straps on your main watch, forget it. Worst bars in the industry. Found that out the hard way. Straight spring bars mated to drilled through lugs. The bars love to work themselves out of the lugs after only two strap changes. Also, the ticking is maddeningly loud on Swatches. Used to love them. Bought a couple. Loved visiting the Swatch shops. Tossed both of mine in the garbage. Every night, had to bury my Swatch underneath several towels in a drawer just so I could get some sleep.

I traded a $5 Timex for a Seiko in 1966. My bro. had got if from a fellow Army guy who had magnetized it. I kept it for 25 years until stolen from my house. A year later I found one just like it only with black face in a flea Market near Ft. Sill and the guy had run a pawn shop in Lawton. I gave him $20 for a box full of watches, including an Elgin, a Bulova, and the Seiko. Ran fine.
