  1. V dibêje:

im sick of men at my school backing me against walls because im smaller than them and they think its funny i cant fight back. i picked up boxing during lockdown, for self defense and for general exercise because i wanted to be healthier. it was good for a while, i have anger issues and it helped, but now its just frustrating, im not improving, and i want something else. something more about being fast and technical than about being fast and powerful. i'll keep doing boxing too, but im tryna figure out what else to try.

edit just to clarify cause i overthought this after i wrote it: i know my situation isnt terrible. its some bullying, and a couple old dudes when i walk home – and i know plenty of other people have it way worse. just in case anyone experiencing worse read this and felt upset at how small my situation is compared to theirs. trust me, im aware its not a big deal.

  2. Chris Frappier dibêje:

What is the difference between Akido and Hapkido? And why is Akido not a good system? I am asking because these were my choices. I am planning on getting back into Martial arts and I like the style of both of the ones I am asking about.

  3. Pamela dibêje:

I personally believe I was made for martial arts. I did Taekwondo in my teen years and still can do a pretty good high kick if I say so myself. It was the only school near literally within a block of a distance to me and was closed down due to the owner having personal problems. I didn't continue because I had lost interest. And I always said I would go back and practice martial arts but never did. But how the world is lately I feel ready to go back tbh.

  4. Damien Letham dibêje:

I started thinking about Karate after watching Cobra Kai. There's also the fact that I started learning it when I was little, and briefly learning Tae Kwon Do a few years later – only getting like 1 or 2 belts of each. In other words, I've already picked up some of the basics and like the idea of learning it properly. Furthermore, it would be nice to do something that involves stretching and limbering up, since I tend to spend a lot of time sitting around feeling uncomfortably stiff.

  5. durban speciale dibêje:

Martial arts is like riding a sports motorcycle in the street amounts heavy traffic or cornering around hills near trees and graval verges. You need to practice the moves until they become automatic without thinking always prepared to save your life in an instant when confronted with a life treating situation just like riding a motorcycle.

  6. Stick of the truth dibêje:

For me it was quite simple. I read some boxing manhwa on webtoons called "the boxer" and thought it was real cool but something was missing, so I looked for something that uses other things like legs to hit with and I ended up with muay thai. Luckily, someone I know had a family member that did just that not too far away from where a live and it was/is pretty cheap to stay there which is nice.
